HOW HE STARTED CALISTHENICS AND HIS PROGRESSION JOURNEY
Efkan has a background deeply rooted in sports. He played professional football for many years, gaining first-hand experience in what disciplined work, patience and consistency truly mean.
Inspired by this, he began practicing calisthenics in parks using his own means. Over time, this interest evolved into a passion. He later joined the VORN gym, where he actively trains and officially began his coaching career by leading calisthenics group classes.
ROLE AND CONTRIBUTIONS IN CALISTHENICS
Efkan has focused on knowledge sharing and community development rather than pursuing a competition-driven career in his calisthenics journey. In his coaching approach, he prioritizes individual progress, proper technical guidance and sustainable development.
Through group classes and workshops held at various gyms and organizations, he has contributed to making calisthenics accessible to a wider audience. For him, the sport is not just about showcasing performance, but about passing on experience, providing the right direction and building a strong sense of community.
PHILOSOPHY AND MINDSET
At the core of Efkan’s life and approach to sports lies the Kaizen philosophy:
Becoming a little better every day.
He deliberately chooses to challenge himself with things that others find difficult and outside their comfort zone, believing that growth begins with discomfort.
Through experience, he has learned that motivation is temporary, while discipline is lasting. For this reason, staying committed to training regardless of circumstances has become a principle for him. Discipline, for Efkan, represents not only physical strength, but also self-respect, mental resilience and his stance toward life.
He does not see calisthenics as just a sport. For him, this journey is a purpose—one through which he pushes his limits and builds himself using a powerful tool.
TRAINING SYSTEM AND FOCUS
Efkan trains regularly 4–5 days a week. Each training day always includes cardio (walking or running).
The main focus of his training is endurance—the ability to sustain strength over long periods. He prioritizes not just being strong, but making strength sustainable.
His training sessions usually last between 1 and 2 hours. From time to time, he trains with a weighted vest or additional load attached to his waist, strengthening his body under extra resistance. This allows him to use his own bodyweight in a much more controlled and efficient way.
He recognizes that there is still room for improvement when it comes to rest. Although he chooses to push his limits, his aim is to establish a healthier long-term balance by getting to know his body better.
